randomness !

Tonight i experimented a bit by taking a photo of myself with toilet rolls in my hair, in the shape of pipes. This was a lucky accident that i actualy came up with an idea.  I decided to take a picture of myself through the shape of a pipe. I stuck the toilet roll on to the lens and took a photograph, giving it this cool effect. I found that if i put a pipe in front of the lens again and walked around taking random photos this would also be very interesting. <3

Sarah backlund: Inspiration for my project.

I have gained an interest in the knitting by sarah backlund . Her fashion pieces look quite sculptural and i hope to gain more information so that i can successfully create a finished piece made from wool.

I really enjoy looking at her work as i feel i can somehow relate my interests to hers. I would love to make pieces like these , that will link up to my study of pipes and how far i can take them to the next level.

At the moment iam researching all the various types of pipes. I was brought down to the cellar one day by a tutor where i was shown many different and intersting pipes. I took loads of photos and i was amazed at the size of one particular pipe in there. I have started knitting recently and i came up with an idea of making the structure of a pipe through the medium of knitting. Iam goin to knit long strips of wool and stuff them with cotton wool or cardboard so that it holds the shape iam looking for. This is going to be a long process and i will need a lot of wool but hopefully i will be satified with my end result. :)x

The Urban Environment:project

Hi my name is Lorna and iam currently doing a project on the urban environment. For the first week of this project i went around the town taking pictures of the urban environment. I came up with many ideas but eventually i decided on exploring the object of pipes. I have become facinated by them and i believe they can lead me in many directions. I have many ideas and thoughts on this project. I recently visited a hardware shop , this is where i found various types of pipes, that interested me. At the moment  I am drawing pipes and researching the different types of pipes.
